TOPHC kicks off!

Approximately 600 registrants from front-line public health professionals, such as health promoters, epidemiologists, public health nurses, physicians, researchers to policy-makers have come together for the inaugural Ontario Public Health Convention (TOPHC) in Toronto.

Inaugurating the conference, Margarett Best, Minister of Health Promotion and Sport, hailed the conference as a step in the right direction and urged participants to network and work collaboratively to improve the health of Ontarians.

In his opening remarks for the convention, Vivek Goel, president and CEO of the Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion (OAHPP) said, “TOPHC will create a platform for existing public health organizations in the province to network, identify opportunities for collaboration and to share the latest scientific knowledge and best practices.”

TOPHC is the first of its conference in the province that aims to advance public health in Ontario by increasing the knowledge and skills in the workforce. 

OAHPP, together with the Ontario Public Health Association (OPHA) and the Association of Local Public Health Agencies (alPHa), are working together to build on the province’s rich history of advancement of  public health.

TOPHC 2011 begins bright and early tomorrow morning with registration at 7am in the Frontenac Foyer of the Westin Harbour Castle. Opening ceremones begin at 8:30am with the Honourable Margarett R. Best, MPP, Minister of Health Promotion and Sport. We look forward to seeing everyone there.

Kick-off!

The Ontario Public Health Convention (TOPHC) officially kicks-off on Wednesday, April 6, at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto. This Convention will provide a platform for over 550 public health practitioners –  from Ontario and across the country – to network, identify opportunities for collaboration and to share the latest scientific knowledge and best practices.
